Community Outreach

With 36 years of experience, Miralles Associates, Inc. [MAI Architects] [MAI] has made significant contributions to community outreach, volunteerism and related activities. MAI welcomes opportunity and is prepared to work with clients, management, staff, neighborhood patrons and other stakeholders in the development of planning and design solutions. This outreach, spirit of cooperation and method of consensus building is invaluable to a successful project, which results in community pride and sense of ownership for its patrons. January earmarks our most recent AIASFV “Best Community Design Award” for the Encino Water Quality Improvement Project with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in recognition of design excellence and community outreach achieved through an extensive 10-year process with the local community. Read more in our 2007 Q1 Newsletter.

MAI offers bi-lingual presentations, programming sessions and design workshops, resulting in more than a dozen projects for various clients completed, including the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Bernardino, Rialto, Fontana, Commerce, Mecca, Lakewood, as well as the County of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and the Federal Government. MAI principals organize design workshops, review data and collect community feedback for design charrettes such as with the Pasadena Blue Line Light Rail Station design project. Event participants even included students from a local middle school. Another completed success is the Hollywood and Vine Metro Red Line Station Program, where the involvement of people from the entertainment industry, the Hollywood Arts Council, the Redevelopment Agency, historic preservation entities and the community resulted in an extremely rewarding project experience.

Furthermore, the firm believes that staff involvement within our own community is a valuable professional asset and integral part of our core values. Read more in our 2007 Q2 Newsletter on MAI’s outreach efforts and staff volunteerism.
